Welcome to the Halahan Associates Website

We have been advising on conservation and collection care since the early 1990’s. Our aim is to help managers and owners make the most of their collections while maintaining recognised standards of collection care and management. We help look after collections, provide advice and information on conservation, collection care, collection management and we carry out collection based projects. We assess collections and provide reports to support funding applications.

We work with a broad range of clients from small private collections to large institutions including museums, historic houses, religious buildings in the UK and abroad.
We can train and support your staff, volunteers and contractors or carry out projects ourselves. We work with a broad network of colleagues to provide information and guidance tailored to your needs.

The texts below will give you some idea of the work we do and we are always happy to discuss what you need to find a way to solve problems. Please contact us for more information or advice.

Policies, Guidelines and Plans

We compile CMPs and Statements for collections and, as needed we involve subject specialist colleagues such as curators, transport and carriage experts, and archivists.

We can put together a team of colleagues with all the necessary knowledge, skills and experience, such as surveyors, architectural historians, architects, archaeologists, landscape specialists, to enable us to compile CMPs for all assets.

We work closely with clients, stakeholders and contractors working on related policies, to produce documents that reflect the real situation and the the aims and needs of the institution.

We can help to develop documentation including conservation and collection care policies and plans, collection development plans and Arts Council England Accreditation documentation.

We can develop guidelines and standards.
